FIIs buying lift Sensex by 170 pts to 10,743 pts

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The stock markets recovered all the losses suffered two days back and the benchmark index was trading 170 points up at 10,743 points at 1326 hrs.

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30 share sensitive index (Sensex) opened higher at 10,581 as compared to last close of 10,573 and got a boost from the good inflow of foreign funds on Wednesday.

Sensex touched an intra-day high of 10,753 points in the trading so far, rising by 180 points.

The net inflow of Rs 832.30 crore by the Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) in the cash market on Wednesday, was reported by market regulator SEBI.

The 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty index was also up by 35 points at 3,164 points at 1112 hrs. Nifty opened flat at 3,129 points.

Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Metal sector were up with big gains of around two per cent.

Capital goods maker BHEL, Asea Brown Boveri(ABB) and Siemens were up by good margins.

Midcap Stock were seeing good buying too and the BSE Midcap index was up by 1.55 per cent.

BSE Smallcap index was also up by 1.53 per cent.

The top Sensex gainers were Gujarat Ambuja Cements and ACC gaining more than three per cent, Gujarat Ambuja today crossed Rs 100 mark for the first time trading at Rs 101.15 at 1316 hrs.

HDFC, Bharti Televentures, Larsen&Toubro, Grasim Industries, Tata Steel, Hero Honda and Cipla were up by two to three per cent.

All the Sensex stocks were in the green, only Reliance Energy was trading with loss at 1317 hrs.

Gitanjli Gems and KEC International made their debut on the stock markets today.

Gitanjli Gems opened at Rs 210 on NSE against the issue price of Rs 195 for Rs 10 share and touched a high of Rs 226 and a low of Rs 169.

Another scrip KEC International opened at Rs 425 per share on both BSE and NSE against the face value of Rs 10 per share. It touched a high of Rs 490 and a low of Rs 405.60 on NSE.
