Delhi Police SI arrested for accepting bribe

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The CBI has arrested a Sub-Inspector of the Delhi Police for accepting bribe from a cable operator to help him in a police case.

Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar, posted at Ambedkar Nagar police station, was arrested yesterday while accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from a Dakshinpuri cable operator, according to the CBI.

Seach at his residential premises and office led to the rceovery of incrimination documents.

The SI had asked for Rs 50,000 from the cable operator for helping him in a police case and threatened to arrest him if he did not comply.

No price rise in HP, claims Singhi Ram

Shimla, Mar 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Horticulture, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Singhi Ram today asserted there was no rise in the prices of essential commodities either in the state or at the central level.Participating in a discussion on 2006-07 Budget in the Assembly here, he said the state government's decision to reduce the market fee from the existing two per cent to one per cent has, on the other hand, brought down their prices. Varanasi blast suspects rounded up in Hardoi

Lucknow, Mar 10: A team from the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police today (Mar 10, 2006) rushed to Hardoi after local police sleuths detained eight persons including two, whose appearance matched the sketches of Varanasi blast accused.According to police, the team rushed to the neighbouring Hardoi district after getting information about the detention.''Two of the eight persons match the description of the suspects behind Tuesday's serial blasts in the temple town,'' sources added......

BJP nominates Sushil Modi for Bihar Legislative Council

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) BJP today nominated Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi as its candidate for the biennal election to the Bihar Legislative Council. Mr Modi, who is a sitting Lok Sabha MP, would have to get elected to either Bihar Assembly or Legislative Council within six months after becoming a Deputy Chief Minister.
