Criminals loot Rs 15 lakh cash from PNB officials

Vapi, Mar 10 (UNI) A gang of five criminals today looted Rs 15 lakh cash from officials of Punjab National Bank here.

Bank officials who, had withdrawn cash from State Bank of India's GIDC branch, 1.5 km from their own branch, and were alighting from their van, when the criminals opened fire at them and snatched the cash bag, police said.

The miscreants, who were waiting for them in a Maruti Esteem car, bearing Maharashtra registration numbers also snatched the rifle of the constable, before fleeing with the cash. The car was later found with a punctured tyre on the national highway near Billad outpost. Some arms were found in the car, which has been seized, police said.

Rain, thunder showers likely

Master plan needed to save Loktak lake: Ibobi Singh

Imphal, Mar 10 (UNI) Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today informed the house that an Australian expert had prepared a Rs 400 crore project to save the Loktak lake from drying-up. The Loktak lake is one of the biggest fresh water lakes in the country. The Chief Minister said that for the last few years, the government has been trying to convince the Centre to save the lake but only recently the North Eastern Council (NEC).....

Two minors buried under debris

Durgapur, Mar 10 (UNI) Two coal pickers died and another person was seriously injured when an abandoned coal mine caved in at Chota Dhemomen village in Sodepur area of ECL under Kulti police station today. Three minors were buried under the debris when they were picking up coal from an abandoned coal mine in that area. Jharna Bauri (7) and Parul Bauri (17) died on the spot while Purnima Bauri (16), was injured. Tension mounted in.....
