Cong starts collecting applns from aspirants

Pondicherry, Mar 10 (UNI) The Congress here today began collecting applications from aspirants to contest the May three and eight Assembly elections.

The exercise will continue for the next five days. Agriculture Minister A Namasivayam was the first one to submit his application.

Applications on behalf of Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Industries Minister M Chandragasu were among the 29 applications filed at the PCC office here till 1200 hrs today.

The applications would be submitted to the party high command which would scrutinise them and select the candidates.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 10: The Congress in Kerala today (Mar 10, 2006) said no one had been officially authorised to hold talks with the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) DIC (K) to bring it in the United Democratic Front (UDF) fold ahead of the coming Assembly elections. Kumble waits for 500th wicket, no play between lunch and tea

Mohali, Mar 10 (UNI) No play was possible between lunch and tea due to bad light on the second day of the second Test between India and England being played here at the PCA Stadium today. Umpires Darrel Hair and Simon Taufel inspected the conditions four times after the match was stopped at 1037 hrs. Eritrea, Ethiopia to attend border talks in London

Aamara, Mar 10: Legal experts from Ethiopia and Eritrea flew to London today (Mar 10, 2006) for talks with international mediators to discuss demarcating their common border, officials said.But Eritrea said it would only discuss implementation of a 2002 ruling made by an independent boundary commission charged with demarcating border.
