Cong announces screening committees for assembly polls

New Delhi, Mar 10: Congress President Sonia Gandhi today (Mar 10, 2006) constituted the party's screening committees for assembly poll-bound Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry as part of the exercise to finalise the contestants' lists.

Each committee has five members, including the Chief Minister/ Legislative Party Leader, the PCC President and the AICC General Secretary Incharge of the respective states.

The other members of the screening committees are Ms Mohsina Kidwai and Mr Oscar Fernandes (for Assam), Mr M L Fotedar and Mr Ajit Jogi (for West Bengal), Mr Mukul Wasnik and Mr Satyavrat Chaturvedi (for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry) and Mr C K Jaffar Sharief and Mr V Narayansamy (for Kerala).

Four injured in blast in Gujarat town
