CID granted permission to question Daya Nayak

Mumbai, Mar 10: Special ACB (anti-corruption bureau) Judge S P Mahajan today allowed the State CID to interrogate suspended encounter special Daya Nayak and record his statement in the Khawja Yunus case.

The Special Court, in response to a plea of the CID, permitted the agency to question Nayak on any working day in the Bhoiwada police lock-up, where the police officer has been kept under judicial custody for security reasons.

According to CID sources, they are likely to interrogate Nayak on next Monday.

The CID had moved the application after Daya Nayak, prior to surrendering in the disproportionate case registered against him by the ACB on January 20, had told the electronic media that he had certain information about Yunus' disappearance from custody.

10 yrs' imprisonment for smuggling opium

Neemuch, MP, Mar 10 (UNI) A special court has sentenced a person to 10 years' imprisonment on the charge of smuggling opium and fined him Rs one lakh failing, which the term will be extended by a year. According to prosecution, the Central Narcotics Bureau had arrested Rajasthan-based Chhaganlal from railway station here and seized the drug from him on May 12, 2001.
