Bodies of 'abducted' aged couple recovered

Mirzapur, Mar 10 (UNI) Police today recovered the bodies of an aged couple -- who were allegedly abducted yesterday -- in Surra forests under Naugarh area of this naxal infested district of Uttar Pradesh.

Bandhukol (65) and his wife Champa (60) went missing from their residence at Nagnath Haraiya village last night.

The family members informed the police of the development and alleged the couple's abduction by a group of about 10 naxalites.

However, the police refused to lodge an FIR in the case, claiming it to be a domestic issue.

Police Superintendent Arun Kumar maintained that there was remote possibility of the involvement of naxal elements in the crime.

He suspected the role of the victims' kin in the case following property dispute. ''The angle of naxalites has been added just to mislead the police,'' Mr Kumar claimed.

Meanwhile, investigations were on.
