BJP nominates Sushil Modi for Bihar Legislative Council

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) BJP today nominated Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi as its candidate for the biennal election to the Bihar Legislative Council.

Mr Modi, who is a sitting Lok Sabha MP, would have to get elected to either Bihar Assembly or Legislative Council within six months after becoming a Deputy Chief Minister. The party chose Mr Baleshwar Bharti for the second seat for the Bihar Council.

Pondicherry, Mar 10: Pondicherry principal district and sessions judge M Chinna Pandi, hearing the Sankararaman murder case in which the Kanchi Acharyas are prime accused, today dismissed the bail petitions filed by three accused in the case.Dismissing the petitions filed by Anil Kumar (A9), A S Kumar (A10) and Anand Kumar (A11), the judge observed that the petitioners had not murdered Sankararaman out of personal vengence but have committed the crime for money. If they were granted bail, they would tamper.....

Kerala urges EC for permission to implement Pay Commission

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The Kerala Government today requested the Election Commission to grant permission for implementation of the Pay Comission recommendations to its employees. Finance Minister of the state Vakkam Purushothaman, after meeting Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon, told newsmen that he had explained the genuineness of the intention of the State government.
