Bazaz calls for concrete proposals at Pugwash meet

Srinagar, Mar 10: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum (JKDF) Chairman Pandit Bhushan Bazaz today (Mar 10, 2006) asked the participants of the international conference in Islamabad to put forth a concrete proposal to resolve the vexed issue which would be acceptable to all the parties concerned - India, Pakistan and the people of the state.

The three-day conference is organised by Pugwash, a European Nobel prize winning think-tank engaged in finding solution to contentious issues in South Asia, at Islamabad from today.

In a statement here, Pandit Bazaz expressed satisfaction that this time even those parties were attending the meet which had not been recognised as the representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir so far.

Instead of being a bone of contention, Kashmir should become a bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan, he added.
