Anti-national documents seized from Chohan residence

Hoshiarpur, Mar 10 (UNI) Punjab Police have seized large quantity of hand written and printed material relating to the demand of the so called Khalistan from the office of Khalsa Raj Party and house of the Khalistan ideologue Jagjit Singh Chohan at Tanda in this district.

The literature was seized yesterday during the raid at the Chohan's premises, following his arrest under sections 121, 124-A and 505 IPC, SP (Detective) Harish Kumar told newspersons here today.

He said the copies of the letters written by Jagjit Singh Chohan to the United Nations (UN) regarding the demand of Khalistan were also found from the premises.

Referring to the flag of the so called Khalistan fluttering a top his house and a charitable hospital adjoining to it, Mr Kumar said the flag was also seized. ''Akal Sahai'' was only printed on the flag and no word relating to Khalistan or Khalsa Raj Party were found on it, he added.

The computer seized from his house was without the central processing unit (CPU) Mr Kumar said. A police party had gone to Jagjit Singh Chohan at Amritsar jail to know about the whereabouts of the CPU but he did not respond under the plea that he was medically unfit, the SP said.

After procuring warrants against Jagjit Singh Chohan from the court concerned in the aforesaid case, he would be brought here for interrogation, Mr Kumar said.

Replying to a question, Mr Kumar said that no passport or currency related to the Khalistan had been found at his residence and the Khalsa Raj Party office during the search. He said that after making inquiry, it was found that Chohan had no followers on the proposed formation of Khalistan. One retired Principal Baldev Singh was his close associate in his anti-national activities, the SP added.

The police was monitering the activities of suspicious characters in the district and would take suitable action against them if their involvement was confirmed with any of the anti-national elements, Mr Kumar said.
