211 students caught copying in UP Board exams

Lucknow, Mar 10 (UNI) In the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Board exams, 211 students were today caught copying in the state.

According to education department sources here, Allahabad division topped the list with 53 copycats, followed by Jhansi 34, Lucknow 30, Gorakhpur 20, Faizabad 17, Mirzapur 17, Agra 8, Basti 7, Azamgarh 7, Saharanpur 5, kanpur 4, Meerut 4, Chitrakoot 3 and Varanasi 2. The copycats included 51 girls.

So far, 2,964 students have been caught copying since the exams started.

5 killed, 4 injured as thunderbolt strikes them

Gulbarga, Mar 10 (UNI) Five people were charred to death and four sustained burns when they were struck by a thunderbolt at Batagera village in this district of Karnataka today. The police said the victims were taking shelter under a tree due to heavy rain when the mishap occurred. The police identified the victims as Nagappa (26), Ramesh (20), Ayappa (14), Narasappa (19) and Mahadevappa (12). The injured were admitted to a hospital. UNI.....

Unseasonal rain claims 14 lives in M'wada in past eight days

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 10 (UNI) As many as 14 people have died and eight others injured while standing crops worth Rs nine crore have been destroyed on 25,000 hectares of land in Marathwada in the past eight days due to unseasonal rains in Central Maharashtra. Talking to reporters Deputy Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Dileep Shinde said of the 14 deaths, nine were recorded yesterday, eight being victims of lightening and one died in wall collapse......

Bihar government attacks previous Deve Godwa government

Patna, Mar 10 (UNI) The Bihar government today accused the previous H D Deve Gowda government of signing an agreement with Bangladesh on division of water of Ganga river without seeking the state's views on the issue. Replying to a debate on the budgetary demands of his department worth Rs 1295.03 crore, state Water Resources minister Ramashryaya Prasad Singh said the state had suffered due to the agreement with Bangladesh.
