1st stretch of Metro Project to become operational in 3 yrs

Bangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) The first seven-kilometre stretch of the prestigious Bangalore Metro Rail Project between Byappanahalli and Cricket Stadium will become operational within three years, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director M K Srivathsava informed today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the Rs 6,300 crore project, which got the concurrence of the Group of Ministers yesterday, would be placed before the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for final clearance on March 16.

Rains see mercury plummeting in UP

Lucknow, Mar 10 (UNI) The light rainfall experienced at several places in Uttar Pradesh during the last 24 hrs saw mercury plummet by several notches today. The chilly and breezy weather also forced people revert to warm clothing. The state meteorological office said here the UP capital recorded a maximum temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius, which was 10 degrees below normal. Lucknow also received good amount of rainfall. In the last 24 hrs, Jhansi recorded the maximum.....

Eight killed, 20 injured as tractor overturns in AP village

Guntur, Mar 10 (UNI) Eight people, including three women were killed and 20 injured when a tractor in which they were travelling overturned while negotiating a curve near Kopparru village in this district tonight. According to police, the farm labourers were returning to their native Garlapadu village after working in the fields in the nearby villages.
