Mah to strengthen mother-children health mission

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said the government has decided to strengthen Rajmata Jijai Mother-Children Health Mission in an attempt to free the state of malnutrition.

Speaking at a meeting of the steering committee of the mission, Mr Deshmukh said the mission's work in tribal-dominated Nandurbar, Nasik, Gadchiroli, Amravati and Thane has been satisfactory.

He also said that all children below the age of six years would be given anti-germ medicine on May 1 and November 14.

It was also informed that new 12864 anganwadis had been sanctioned in the state and some more would be sanctioned by the Central government.

Nigerian militants attack fuel tanker - military

LAGOS, March 9 (Reuters) Nigerian militants engaged soldiers in a fierce gun battle in the southern delta in an unsuccessful attempt to capture a fuel tanker, military officials said today.
