BC employees in AP to hold conference on Mar 11

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare organisation will hold BC Employees conference here on March 11 to press their demands, including 50 per cent reservation in Parliament and the State Assemblies and implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations in toto.

The OBCs wanted the Union Government to provide reservation for OBC employees in promotions, set up a separate department to look into their welfare and allocate Rs 5,000 crore in the Budget for their development, its President R Krishnaiah said in a statement here today.

Demanding that SC/ST/BCs be given 70 per cent due share in appointment as judges of Supreme Court, High Court and Tribunals on population basis, the Organisation wanted enhancement of the reservation for BCs in education and employment from 25 per cent to 44 per cent by the State Government as per the Muralidhar Rao commission report.

HC reserves order on Ajnala's petition

Chandigarh, Mar 9 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today reserved the judgement on the petition filed by senior Akali leader Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala and seven other legislators seeking directions for registration of cases against Congress leaders who, as ministers in the Beant Singh Government in 1992 onwards, had been indicted by the Lok Pal for corruption. Stay on film 'Deepa Ki Tarannum' vacated

Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) A local court today vacated the stay on the shooting of a under production movie 'Deepa Ki Tarannum', being produced by an Ranjit Sharma. The matter, which was transferred to Sessions Judge Dr Laxmi Rao was heard on February 18 in which both parties had agreed for an out-of-court settlement.
