Six arrested with weapons in Junagadh

Junagadh, Mar 2 (UNI) Six people have been arr ested and weapons worth more than Rs two lakh seized from them in Junagadh town late last night, police said today.

District Superintendent of Police B D Vaghela said acting on a tip-off, the local crime branch teams kept a watch at two places-Sardar statue and Sabalpur chowkdi, in the town.

The six were arrested by the teams late in the night and three pistols, a foreign-made revolver, a countrymade gun, seven cartridges, three mobile phones and Rs 10,000 in cash were seized from them, he added.

He said these men, from various parts of the state had probably come to Junagadh to sell the weapons. Some of them have criminal records, he added.

Investigations are on, Mr Vaghela said.

Licensed weapons stolen from UP police station

Fatehpur, Mar 2 (UNI) Unidentified man have looted three licensed weapons from a police station in this central Uttar Pradesh district last night, police said today. Man commits suicide in lodge

Vijayawada, Mar 2 (UNI) A 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan at a lodge in the city today. Police said G Veeraswami of Rajahmundry had checked into the lodge last night. When the lodge sweeper knocked the door and did not get response, he reported the matter to the lodge owner, who immediately informed the police. The police broke open the door and found him dead.
