Injured Davenport out of singles

Sydney: Top-seeded Lindsay Davenport is out of the Olympic tennis singles event after failing to take the court for her second round match with Rossana de los Rios of Paraguay.

Women's team captain Billie Jean King said on Thursday Davenport had a chronic problem with her left foot which could possibly be a stress fracture."She is going for X-rays," King told reporters.

Australian Open and defending Olympic champion Davenport has been struggling with the injury since it was picked up in the Canadian Open earlier this year.
