Ex-Olympian feels India may win hockey gold

Calcutta: Joginder Singh, member of the 1964 Olympic gold winning Indian hockey team, has expressed the hope that India will win the hockey gold in the Sydney Olympics.

"I would like to see India win a gold in Sydney Olympics," Joginder Singh, who was also a member of the silver winning Indian hockey team in Rome said here on Tuesday.

Now living on dialysis, the former right-out said that recent victories in the Asian Games and the four-nation hockey tournament should boost the confidence of the Indian players before the Sydney Games.

"International hockey is tough and many new countries are playing good hockey but still I wish India should emerge out with flying colors."
