Middlesbrough: Australia's soccer captain Paul Okon will miss the Sydney Olympics after breaking his foot in Middlesbrough's 2-1 English premier league defeat by Leeds United on Saturday.Manager Bryan Robson said Okon would be out for six weeks.
"Okon did not realise at the time that he had broken a foot," Robson said. "He battled on bravely before he came off. Naturally, he is disappointed that he will miss the chance of playing in the Olympics."
Okon, who joined Middlesbrough from Fiorentina during the summer, was chosen as an over-age player for the Olympics beginning on September 15.On Friday, Leeds' Australian striker Harry Kewell withdrew from the Games with an Achilles tendon injury.
